Keeping the Kids Happy in Their Stroller
Most of the moms and dads that we’ve talked to that use jogging strollers haven’t had too many problems keeping the kids happy in their strollers while jogging. Most of them have been delighted to find that not only does the time spent jogging help them stay in shape, but it also helps the with getting a much needed mental break, too. It’s not unusual for many kids to be lulled to sleep by the rhythmic motion or be fascinated by the sights and sounds. However, some parents struggle with getting their kids to love the stroller as much as they do and once in awhile you’ll find that even the best behaved kids can get upset for no reason at all.
If you want to keep kids happy in their jogging stroller, here are some tips:
1. Choose the Right Time: Some kids do great very early in the morning, others would rather wait until evening time. If the weather is perfect, you might enjoy late morning or early afternoon, though in summer months when it is hot you will want to avoid those times to reduce the risks of sunburn or heat stroke. It will depend mostly on your kids and their schedule – making sure your workout routine fits in with their eating schedules, naps, and everything else will make them a lot happier.
2. Make Sure They are Fed: Hungry kids are crabby kids. Be sure before leaving they have eaten and will not get hungry while on the trail. You might want to consider bringing a few snacks along just in case they decide they need something else to eat.It is also good to have drinks since even if they aren’t the one’s exercising they might still get thirsty and it’s important for them to stay hydrated.
3. Consider Attachable Toys: While toys in general sound like a good idea to keep them amused, you’ll want the kind of toys that can be safely attached to the stroller. Why? Because little kids love to throw things and watch your reaction when you pick it up. It’s a great game to them. Unfortunately, it’s not going to help you a whole lot in getting a workout!
4. Take Breaks: Even the Best of Behaved Kids can have trouble staying still for a long period of time. If you’re out going a long distance, you may want to consider taking breaks in a safe area where they can do a little running of their own.
